Biography
Juergen F. Kolb is the Head of the Research Program “Agriculture, Bioeconomy and Environment” at the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP) in Greifswald, Germany. He was appointed by the University of Rostock as Professor of Applied Physics when he came to the institute in 2011. In the preceding ten years he was at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, USA, where he left as Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. A doctorate in physics was awarded to him from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1999.
His Research Program explores plasma methods for every aspect of a circular bioeconomoy, including plasmaagriculture, food processing and refinement, biomass treatment, and environmental remediation technologies, especially for water. Respective innovations and their maturation into commercially viable systems is a dedicated objective in addition to a fundamental understanding of responsible physical and chemical processes.
